St. Patrick’s Day is a fun holiday. In the U.S., parties of green, copious amounts of beer, and fun Irish traditions (and some clearly not Irish) are celebrated all around. While I may not have any Irish ancestry, I love the holiday as it helps break up the monotony of winter. And I know this may not be a super culturally accurate celebration, but, again, it’s fun. I hope that whatever your plans are this early spring that you enjoy the time and get to break up the routine a bit. Here at Home Kitchenary, we’re your source for kitchen appliance reviews. 3 Tier Stackable Garden – Indoor / Outdoor Vertical Planter Set – Fresh Plants in the Windowsill
When it comes to kitchen plants I’m always looking for three things: easy to care, small counter space, and production. I don’t want a million different pots and plants ending up on my counters taking what precious little space I have left. With this three-tier planter, I’m able to grow all my herbs in one spot. This planter allows for easy watering and care as each plant drains into the other, sharing water and nutrients. If you don’t want to grow herbs, this is a great beautification tool as well. Load this sucker with a bunch of succulents and forget about it! With a few months and watering every now and then, you’ll end up with some nice greenery that will turn some heads.
AeroGarden Harvest – Herbs No Matter What
Herbs are so easy to grow! My basil is looking like a weed! I can’t use my herbs fast enough!
Ugh… I hate this part. This is where I confess that I’ve tried growing herbs so many times only to have them to fail and die. Is it the lack of windows in my house? Most likely. The lack of good soil or overwatering them? Probably the latter. Herbs aren’t as easy as everyone claims they are, especially if you have a small, darker kitchen like my little home does. If you are looking for a fool-proof method, I encourage you to take a look at the popular AeroGarden, where automatic lighting and precise watering allows even the most novice gardener to produce wonderful herbs. If you swear by fresh herbs and can taste the difference they make in foods or even cocktails, this is a must-have. The beautiful thing about this contraption is that if there isn’t enough room in your kitchen or by a window, it can successfully grow elsewhere in your house—and it will look like a statement piece while you’re at it! And our kitchen appliance reviews have shown time and time again that AeroGarden is one of the best options out there for growing your own herbs.
LED Strip & Ring Plant Lights – No Windows, No Problem
Worried your plants aren’t going to get enough light? Have you tried before with your plants just dying? Fear not, for it’s time to introduce plant lights that actually work! We’re talking full-spectrum light that can help your plants grow and survive even the winter months. The LED strip lights make quite the stir if you install them properly. Don’t be afraid; they work great and they are super easy to use, but recently there have been some trends showing gardeners installing these underneath their cupboards. This installation provides them with a discreet garden light while still providing what their plants need.
The ring grow lights are a classic option that many indoor gardeners use. If you’re looking for surefire way to keep your herb plants alive during the cold months, this is a great way to make sure they keep growing. Planned light ranging from 8-16 also take the hassle away as you keep growing your kitchen plants. And you can really trust this kitchen appliance review: these are products we use ourselves and our plants manage to survive our dark house as a result!
Hanging Planter for Window – Beautiful Plants, Beautiful Kitchen
Your kitchen is already so busy. The coffee maker, the toaster oven, the fruit bowl. How in the world are you going to beautify your kitchen when it’s so crowded? Avoid the counters this spring and move to your nearest window… or ceiling! There are a large number of cute hanging planters that are made for indoor spaces. We highly recommend this one as it works great by windows and can be set up at the top of windows or lower as necessary. These cute additions can add the splash of green to make your kitchen or living space a little more alive. The only downside to hangers like these is they are usually limited by size. Don’t expect to grow massive plants or heaps of herbs out of this. These planters stay small; think cute and small plants to make the most of this.
Aerospring 27-Plant Vertical Hydroponics Indoor Growing System – From Garden to Plate
For those who are considering less shopping, more growing, and more fresh veggies, the answer is hydroponic. If you haven’t heard of hydroponic gardening before, we encourage you to do some research, but the basic TLDR is this: plants grow without soil by getting their needed nutrients through their water source. This means gardeners can save space by not having to deal with soil and increase their harvest per square inch. If you want your gardening to become a regular part of your meals, then a hydroponic indoor kit is the way to go. These kits start with basic tiered systems but can also include automatic watering kits, light systems, and even greenhouse builds to them. The only downside is price. Even the simple builds can cost you upwards of hundreds of dollars. These kits are considered serious indoor gardening. We love these set-ups, especially in the homes where people actively use them. If you are considering taking your indoor gardening to the next level, we highly encourage Aerospring as their systems take the stress off of you.
