Juicing vs. Blending – Find Out The Difference

By Home Kitchenary | Last Updated: January 22, 2022

Juicing vs. Blending

Most of us have a misconception that juicing and blending are the same procedure and yield similar results. Surprisingly, both are different techniques and require different types of juicers and blenders. Of course, both are equally good for health. But while “weight watching” individuals prefer juicing for weight loss – fitness freaks go for the best juicer blender to satisfy their nutritional cravings for smoothies and shakes. On the other hand, that does not mean you can’t use a blender machine to prepare drinks ideal for weight loss.

Confused, right?

Don’t worry you are not alone! Most consumers are apprehensive when buying kitchen appliances and are unsure if the specific equipment will suit their lifestyle or not.

Same goes for best juicers and blenders. Since both are used for extracting liquid from fruits and vegetables – most buyers are hesitant about making a choice between both.

Rest assured, both the techniques – juicing and blender are fabulous ways to incorporate a nutrition-packed produced in your diet. The techniques are definitely different but if utilized in the correct way – you can get the best juicing results from both, for the betterment of your health and physique.

Read on to find out more about the differences and how you can use the different types of blenders and juicers to boost your health and immune system.

Juicing

In the juicing process, the water and nutrients are extracted from the produce (both fruit and vegetable) while the indigestible fiber is discarded. Without the added fiber, your digestive system won’t have to work as hard to break down the food and absorb the nutrients. In fact, the nutrients will be more readily available in large quantities as most of us will find it challenging to eat the same amount of fruits and vegetables in their whole form.

Juicing is ideal for those who have a sensitive digestive system or are prohibited from taking fiber due to an illness. And of course, juicing for weight loss is one of the best ways to detoxify and reduce your daily caloric count while enriching the body with essential vitamins and minerals.

Juicing Calories

It’s hard to tell how many calories are in one glass of juice as recipes and the ingredients vary in most juicing recipes. The quality of juicers also matter as cheaper versions are able to take out less pulp than those of high quality.

10 Common Juicing Mistakes You Should Avoid

However, most fruits and vegetables are not that high in calories and most of the calories come from the added sugar, nuts, chocolate, milk, and dried fruits – which are a staple addition when blending milkshakes and smoothies (read below). And when followed the right recipes such as Juicing with Ninja and Mean Green Juice, you don’t have to worry much about the juicing calories as they have nutritional values listed alongside the recipes.

Different Types Of Juicers

Centrifugal and masticating are the two main types of juicers available in the market. While centrifugal are commonly purchased for their inexpensive price and ease of use, the masticating juicers are popular for creating less oxidation during the juicing process which is known to retain the most-nutrients.

The masticating juicers are also ideal for juicing leafy vegetables and preparing green juices for weight loss. The Mean Green Juice recipe is one of the best juicing recipes to follow in the masticating juicer which helps improve user’s immunity apart from aiding in weight loss.

7 Things To Consider Before Buying A Juicer Machine

Blending

Now let’s talk about blending. As the term suggests, blending “blends” the entire fruit or vegetable into a pureed form. In short, what you put into the blender is what you consume. Blenders are useful in blending vegetables and non-juicable fruits like bananas, papaya, and avocado. You also have a choice of adding different nuts, dairy products, spices, herbs, and ice cubes to enhance the taste of your drink and boost the nutritional value.

The blended beverage, often called a “smoothie” or a “milkshake” retains the fiber content of the added fruit and vegetable. Due to fiber, drinks created by blending tend to be more filling. They are faster to prepare as well which is why many individuals prefer a healthy shake first thing in the morning.

Smoothie vs Milkshakes

Smoothie vs. Milkshakes

Just like there is a misconception between blending and juicing, most individuals are also in confusion that smoothies and milkshakes are just two different names of the same product.

However, the similarity only lies in the fact that they are both produced through the same kitchen appliances – that is the blending machine.

A smoothie is prepared by blending vegetable or fruit in large quantities with limited ice or liquid (yogurt, water, milk) while milkshakes are sweet and includes a combination of fruit, ice-cream, milk, and sugar.

So who wins the smoothie vs. milkshakes battle? This mainly depends on your goals. If you are looking for weight loss and counting calories, then smoothie is the perfect choice as it contains fruits and vegetables in large numbers. But if you require extra calories in your diet, then milkshakes is the perfect choice.

The internet contains tons of recipes that you can easily follow to meet your health goals. Pre-packaged beverages are also conveniently available which contains an adequate amount of nutrition’s and calories. Some of the ones we recommend you to try include Health Wise Shakes, ninja blender recipes for weight loss, and green smoothie fast. Types Of Blenders

Most readers are well aware of the standard juicer blender that comes with a jug attached and has a fixed set of buttons that sends the blending machine whirling when pressed. These are easy to operate, maintenance free (simply wash the jug after each use) and cost-effective.

How To Find The Perfect Blender – A Step By Step Guide

However, some high-end brands such as Vitamix and Nutribullet are also available in the market which not offer great juicing results but also enhances the nutrition value of the drink you prepare with it. Read our Vitamix vs. Nutribullet guide to find out the primary difference between the two.

Vitamix vs Nutribullet

Vitamix vs. Nutribullet

Vitamix is no doubt one of the best juicer blenders available in the market. It is powerful with a 37,000 RPM with two peak horse power. The blender comes with a variety of attachments that make it easy for the users to crush any ingredient (including ice) into a soft and silky texture. The carrot juice Vitamix is one of the best drinks to prepare with the machine for its super-smooth blending abilities.

The Vitamix is perfect for preparing large amounts of shakes and smoothies as it comes with a 64-ounce container. You can even use it to make breads, ice-creams, and soups. If you are counting calories, follow the Vitamix recipes for weight loss and green juices for weight loss to make the most out of your machinery.

7 Rapid Weight Loss Juicing Recipes

Unfortunately, the only drawback of Vitamix is its heavy price tag which is more than $500. This is the main reason most consumers avoid purchasing Vitamix machines even after reading its many advantages on Nutribullet vs. Vitamix guide.

On the other hand, Nutribullet cost hardly $120 which is affordable for many consumers. However, it does not carry the same versatility and convenience as Vitamix.

Nutribullet is small but fit for those who live alone and are looking for a machine to prepare juices of one serving. Nutribullet also does not have the same power as Vitamix and has the speed of 10,000 RPM. Although, Nutribullet is easy to use but it does have a strange system where users have to push down on the surface to initially start the blending procedure. Of course, the end juicing results is equally good and most users are satisfied with the shakes and smoothies prepared through the equipment.

11 Best Juices That will Boost Up Your Immune System

To sum up the debate of Nutribullet vs. Vitamix, we believe that both blenders are of high-quality and perform well. However, if you have a large family, a large budget and prepare more than just smoothies and shakes – then Vitamix is the right choice. On the other hand, if you live alone and are solely looking for Nutribullet weight loss, then the cheaper version is the perfect choice.

Nutribullet vs. Juicer

At first glance, you may find the Nutribullet and a traditional juicer to be the same equipment. However, when comparing the final outcome of both the equipment’s, there is no Nutribullet vs Juicer. As we discussed above, Nutribullet is a blending machine which prepares beverages in thicker consistency while juicer machines remove the pulp from the produce and extracts juice in almost-watery consistency.

So which one is better? Juicing or blending?

As we mentioned above, this mainly depends on your goals. If you are juicing for weight loss, we highly suggest you go for a juicer that yields concentrated liquid without any added fibers. Hence you can also go for a blender to make smoothies and blending vegetables. Both way, they are equally beneficial for health and there is no way you will regret after buying either one – or even both. In fact, if maintaining health is your topmost priority, you can do pretty well with a combination of both to meet your daily dietary requirements. Happy juicing!

I have the BlendTec and prefer that over the Vitamix for my smoothies. I love blending different combinations; my go to is water, spinach, banana, strawberries, blue berries and chia seeds.
